PRIDE BOARD MEMBERS

President:

Rich Hoffman - HR Benjamin

Richard Hoffman, is the President of H.R. Benjamin, Inc., a commercial/industrial electrical contracting firm, established in 1983. His firm has been based in the heart of the PRIDE district since 1999, and he has seen firsthand the collaboration of the PRIDE businesses generating tremendous improvements, including almost 1.7 million dollars of capital upgrades in the district, largely that came through direct grants. He enjoys getting to know many of the local businesses in the PRIDE district and sees first hand many of the growing in sales and employees in these challenging economic times. Rich has been involved with the PRIDE group since almost it’s inception and has served on previous PRIDE subcommittees and currently serves on the Security subcommittee.

Treasurer:

Paul Luff - Active Radiator

Mr. Luff has over 30 years experience in management positions ranging from President, COO, Treasurer, Manufacturing and Engineering senior positions in Fortune 5 to startup, public and private companies. Mr. Luff is currently Vice President of Development for Active Radiator and has been with the company since 2002. Mr. Luff received his bachelor’s degree in Engineering from Lehigh University in 1975 and an Executive MBA from Baldwin Wallace College in 1985. Mr. Luff is married and has two children, three grandchildren and resides in Warminster, PA.

Steve Jurash - Urban Industry Initiative

Steve is Philadelphia’s leading advocate for the city’s manufacturing sector. Together with the Urban Industry Initiative, he has worked to help the sector find trained workers, give companies a voice in city government and make the kinds of connection for them that results in growth. He is also President & CEO of the Urban Industry Initiative (UII), which is a city economic development agency for the manufacturing sector. He works directly with Philadelphia's manufactures, as a marketing coach, as well as leading a New Product Development Group, teaching companies how to innovate and bring new products to market.

Edward J Foy - Wickwire Warehouse

Mr Foy has been the CEO and Owner of Wickwire Warehouse since 1995. He purchased United Roll Form in 2000.  He subsequently purchased a baling wire distributor, Parade Strapping & Baling and consolidated all three companies within the Corporate Headquarters in Port Richmond in 2006. Ed is committed to the Pride District and the surrounding area. He is looking forward to expanding his company’s presence in the Port Richmond area. Ed is married and has five children.

Jennifer Ramos - Grip Flex

As CFO of Grip Flex, Jennifer leverages 20 years experience in the manufacturing textile industry amid an accounting background. Jennifer’s decision to join Pride was to promote achieving the goal of becoming a resource-efficient, safe, and healthy working environment for both firms and residents alike. Once a resident of the Pride District, she is pleased in fostering superior neighborhood character while supporting the local business economy. She believes through the efforts of Pride, united, we have the ability to strengthen the business environment at the same time giving back to the district’s community.

Joseph Bennett - PTR Baler

Mr. Bennett works as the IT Manager for PTR Baler and Compactor Company.  He holds a degree in Computer Information Systems as well as several technical certifications and certificates ranging from leadership to accounting and operations management.  Joe has been with PTR for the past 17 years in his role as IT Manager.  Joe's prior experience in accounting and business operations management coupled with his education and experience in computer information systems is an asset to any organization and an important part of his contributions to PRIDE.  Joe has worked with PRIDE over the past several years as chairmen of the security subcommittee.

Peter Young - Arawak Holding

Mr. Young owns an art studio and events hall located on Collins Street.  The  Gallerie at Isada was born out of the creative vision of Isada Young. The idea was to establish a venue in the Philadelphia area conceptualizing an industrial mansion with a personal touch.

Joe Mellon - Penske Truck Leasing

Joe Mellon is Branch Service Manager for Penske Truck Leasing.  In this capacity, he is responsible for truck leasing and truck rental vehicle maintenance needs for the company’s Philadelphia-area operations. He has over thirty years of experience in the transportation industry, and has managed the Port Richmond location for six years.

 

Before joining the company Mellon was a Senior Service Manager for Ryder Truck Rental in Philadelphia. He was also an Installer and Assistant Foreman for O’Brien Machinery.

 

A U.S. Air Force veteran, Mellon was a ground traffic controller while stationed in the United States and Germany, where he held top-level security clearances.
